Congratulations to our Year 5/6 boys who were successful in winning our local areas AFL Paul Kelly Cup in Merimbula last Friday. The boys finished at the top of their pool after the round robin games and subsequently had to play the team from Bega West PS in the final. The final was an extremely thrilling game with the Wolumla PS team finishing victors by 1 point.
Mrs Jennings was an extremely proud teacher and commented on how the boys showed great team spirit and sportsmanship. The team consisted of a squad of 16 players with only 12 allowed on the field at any time. The players were split into 4 groups of 4 players with each group rotating between defence, mid field, attack and the reserve bench.
The Paul Kelly Cup is the largest AFL primary school competition in NSW and the ACT and is open to students in Years 5 and 6. The team will now progress through to the regional finals which are to be played at Hanging Rock Oval, Batemans Bay on Friday 30th April.
