Wolumla Public School, in conjunction with Bournda EEC, was successful in securing a grant Creative Education Partnerships: Artist in Schools from the NSW Department of Education & Training, Arts NSW and The Australia Council for the Arts, along with 3 other schools in our region - Quaama PS, Bega West PS and Tathra PS.
Students in Years 5 and 6 (Stage 3) will be working with local artist, Janna Ferris, on an environmental sculpture project. The goal of this project is for the students to work with the talented and experienced ceramic artist who will inspire the students and give them the opportunity to create in clay. Each student will produce a piece of work that will join other pieces to go in a collective sculpture at the school.
The project will focus on the diverse range of plants in the Australian environment. Particular emphasis will be on local endemic species.
We are extremely excited to be included as part of this project and look forward to seeing the final product go on display at our school.
